Updated March 18, 2020
On Thursday, March 12th Governor Evers declared a Public Health Emergency for the State of Wisconsin and called upon the people of Wisconsin to work aggressively to slow the spread of COVID-19. On Friday (03/13) he directed the DHS to close all schools in Wisconsin until April 6th. Most recently, on March 17th, Governor Evers issued another order that included a prohibition on gatherings of more than 10 people. It also amended the timeline for school closure which originally included a return to school on April 6, to a closure for "...the remainder of the public health emergency." This provides an indefinite timeline for how long our schools will be closed.
We take the responsibility of keeping our students, staff, families, and community safe and healthy. Due to the health and wellness concerns in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic virus, the Pewaukee School District will be closed until further notice. During this time we will focus on deep cleaning our facilities and we will closely monitor the progression of the virus. Throughout this period, we will continue to collaborate with area school districts, Waukesha County, and the health department to make the best decisions we can for our students and community.
As we have experienced, this situation continues to evolve rapidly and we are fortunate for the community's understanding as we navigate remote/virtual instruction to provide the best possible learning for our students. Information and direction to students and their families will come primarily from building principals and teachers. Please continue to check back with this page as we continue to update all communication and potential questions that may arise during this time.
