It produces two community publications, The Perspective, which reaches 15,000 homes, and manages the ParentSquare application for families, staff, and students. PERSPECTIVE PUBLICATION Pewaukee Schools publishes a biannual community magazine called The Perspective, delivered to over 15,000 households throughout the Pewaukee area. As a one-person department, she thrives in the variety her role offers and enjoys collaborating with individuals throughout the Pewaukee community. Miranda holds a Bachelors degree in Graphic Communications with a minor in Marketing from Carroll University, where she graduated in 2018. Outside of work, you’ll find her spending time with friends and family, adventuring with her golden retriever, Goose, painting murals around campus, or cheering on Wisconsin sports... especially our Pirates!

He is deeply committed to empowering both staff and students, encouraging them to fully utilize makerspaces and seamlessly integrate them into the curriculum. Ben’s collaborative approach fosters a supportive environment where staff feel heard, often rethinking initial ideas through his thoughtful guidance. He actively builds partnerships with community businesses, expanding real-world learning opportunities for students. Ben consistently goes above and beyond by writing and managing grants that bring crucial resources to support student innovation. His dedication and leadership have had a lasting impact on elevating the educational experience at Pewaukee. MARKETING/COMMUNICATION MANAGER Miranda Kozlik Miranda Kozlik, Marketing and Communications Manager, embraces every challenge with enthusiasm and determination. She covers all forms of communication across the district, skillfully celebrating the wonderful things happening at Pewaukee by consistently showcasing others and lifting up those around her. Miranda’s innovative standout projects include designing the 4K Environmental Rooms, single-handedly developing the new district website, and even painting the bookmobile bus. Her expertise in photography, videography, communication, social media, and community publication "The Perspective" allows her to creatively engage the community. Always looking for fun, innovative ways to celebrate the culture at Pewaukee, Miranda’s contributions help bring the district’s story to life in meaningful and impactful ways. 2ND GRADE TEACHER Sarah Torbenson Sarah Torbenson, a dedicated 2nd grade teacher at Pewaukee Lake Elementary, is always thinking of new and exciting ways to engage students and bring the school community together. She played a key role in facilitating memorable events like the 2nd grade lock-in, the PLE Prom, and the creation of a new PHS scholarship, fostering school spirit and building connections among students, staff, and families. Sarah’s creativity extends beyond the classroom, as she continually seeks opportunities for families to get involved in the school community, making everyone feel like an integral part of the PLE family. Her dedication to creating fun, meaningful experiences ensures that both students and staff have lasting, positive memories of their time at Pewaukee Lake Elementary. 3RD GRADE TEACHER Emily Jasinowski Emily Jasinowski, a first-year 3rd grade teacher at Horizon Elementary, has already made a remarkable impact with her creativity and initiative. She developed the idea of creating a hammock garden in the Horizon courtyard, bringing a refreshing outdoor learning space to life. Emily took the lead in creating a committee and collaborating with outside companies to bring the concept to fruition, even securing a PTO grant to fund the project. She didn’t stop there—Emily also developed and implemented activities that tie the hammock garden into classroom instruction, ensuring that students were not only able to enjoy the space but also actively participate in its design process. Her innovative approach to learning and community involvement has already made a lasting impression at Horizon. TECHNICAL EDUCATION TEACHER Nelson Brownell Nelson Brownell, Technical Education Teacher at Pewaukee High School, has been a driving force behind reimagining what technology and engineering education can look like for students. Over the past two years, he has been instrumental in forming and nurturing impactful community partnerships with local manufacturing, construction industries, and WCTC. His commitment to innovation and collaboration led to the launch of the first Business Alliance meeting, where he brought together these partners to engage in meaningful conversations about curriculum development, facilities, and work-based learning opportunities. Nelson’s forward-thinking approach and dedication to creating authentic, real-world experiences for students continue to shape a vibrant and evolving Tech Ed program, preparing students for success beyond the classroom.     MEET THE BOARD BACK TO BOE PAGE 262-366-3262 Elected: 2022 Term Expires: 2028 CONTACT: boe-bsawall@pewaukeeschools.org Board President BREN SAWALL Bren is a 17-year resident of Pewaukee. She received a degree in Nursing from Riverland Community College in Minnesota in 1994. After working as a nurse she moved into a Management role and assumed the position of Regional Nurse/Clinical Manager overseeing the building, hiring, and operations of clinics throughout several states. She furthered her education in 2013 when she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Ottawa University. After that, she moved into the role of Director of Operations for Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative. Bren and her husband are also real estate investors and own multi-family properties in SE Wisconsin. Volunteering at Horizon School and other opportunities as they arise are part of her commitment to our district’s children. She has two grandchildren in the PSD, Hailey in 7th and Jay in 10th. Bren sings and has been on the Music Ministry Team @ Springcreek Church for the past 17 years. She also plays piano, loves the arts, and enjoys attending concerts and theater. She and her husband love outdoor activities, including kayaking, boating, skiing, Pickle Ball and hiking. 414-791-5511 Elected: 2023 Term Expires: 2026 CONTACT: boe-aross@pewaukeeschools.org Board Vice President ASHLEY ROSS Ashley and her family have been residents of Pewaukee since 2013. Ashley received a bachelor's degree from UW-Madison in psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University. She spent just over 10 years working in both residential and intensive outpatient programs for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders through Rogers Memorial Hospital. Ashley then transitioned into outpatient therapy where she currently works as a Licensed Professional Counselor with Lifestance Counseling in Brookfield. Ashley has also served as a member and then treasurer of the Pewaukee Junior Woman's Guild. Ashley and her husband Dan have three children in the district, Owen (’30), Isabel (’31), and Emelia (’34) who have all attended school in the district since 4K. She has been an active participant in their education by being involved as a classroom helper, volunteer, and chaperone. Ashley has also been involved in the district as a mentor in the insight program at the high school since 2019. Ashley enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, horseback riding, attending and volunteering at church, skiing, hiking, boating, and cheering her kids on in their sports. 262-695-2451 Elected: 2021 Term Expires: 2027 CONTACT: boe-snewcomer@pewaukeeschools.org Board Treasurer STACEY NEWCOMER Stacey is a 20 year resident of Pewaukee. She received a degree in Accounting from Marquette University and worked in public accounting and hospital finance before becoming a stay at home mom and busy volunteer. Stacey served as fundraising analyst and treasurer of the PTO as well as treasurer and president of the Booster Club. She has enjoyed volunteering as a math mentor and a library volunteer in the district. She also serves as a children’s leader at her Bible study. Over the years she has been involved in the District’s strategic planning process as well as various search and event committees. Stacey has served as Board treasurer since spring 2024 and finds serving on the school board to be very rewarding. She appreciates being able to support the district administration and staff in their daily work to open the door to each child’s future. Stacey and her husband Mark have watched their three children and a nephew graduate from Pewaukee School District (Adam ’18, Emily ’20, Sarah ’22, Cameron ’25). Stacey and Mark enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling and going to their cottage ‘up north’. He received his undergraduate degree from UW-Whitewater majoring in Operations Management. He has worked at Harley Davidson Motor Co. for the past 18 years, currently as a Commercial Project Manager and has held various roles in that time, spanning across Portfolio Management, Sales, Marketing, Motorcycle Customization and Design. Matt and his wife Caitlin have two children in the district, Auden (‘35) and Asher (’37). He’s an active father involved in the district as a parent volunteer at PLE and is a part of the Insight program at the high school. He’s also been involved in the Strategic Planning and Long-Range Facility Planning processes since 2022. Matt enjoys spending time outdoors, classic cars and vacationing on the beach. He also has a long time hobby of woodworking and obtained his General Contractor’s license in early 2024, with a particular interest in finish carpentry. 414-839-9704 Elected: 2002 Term Expires: 2028 CONTACT: boe-ldux@pewaukeeschools.org Board Member LARRY DUX Larry Dux was the Director of Patient Care Informatics and Process Improvement at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Community Hospital Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and a Diplomat of the Society for Health Systems, a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality, and a Life Fellow/CPHIMS member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. He has extensive experience in teaching and applying process improvement tools and techniques. He has served as a Wisconsin Forward Award (WFA) Examiner since 2004 and has participated in nine WFA site visits. Larry has served on the Pewaukee School District Board of Education for over 20 years and is very proud that the District received the Wisconsin Governor’s Forward Award of Excellence in 2010 and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2013. 262-523-1644 Elected: 2023 Term Expires: 2026 CONTACT: boe-mlarson@pewaukeeschools.org Board Member MARY LARSON Mary Larson holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Mount Mary College and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University. Mary’s experience in the teaching profession includes K-12 math and science at University Lake School, math and science at Bryant Stratton and Waukesha County Technical colleges, and high school math in the Shorewood School District. Most recently, Mary deployed to the Mediterranean with the U.S. Navy as a math instructor in their College Afloat program, and, in like capacity, deployed three times to the Eastern Pacific with the U.S. Coast Guard. Mary also worked for the Wauwatosa Recreation Department as a gymnastics instructor for disabled and K-11 children; and as a gymnastics coach for the Wauwatosa West High School girls’ gymnastics team. Mary is a former executive search consultant and past president of Robert E. Larson & Associates, Inc., and a past president of the Data Processing Management Association – Milwaukee Chapter. Travis received his undergraduate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University with a double major in Business Administration and Marketing. He went on to get an MBA in Corporate Communication from Concordia University Wisconsin. Travis currently works as a Sales Director for Accutech Security. Travis and his wife Brittany have three children in the district. Henry ('31), Evelyn ('32), and Arthur ('37) who have all attended school at Pewaukee since 4K. Travis is active in his church, as a chaperone on field trips, a coach, and a volunteer within the district. He has also been involved in the strategic planning process at Pewaukee throughout the years. Travis enjoys spending time outdoors with his family biking, camping, fishing, and playing disc golf.

She makes the art of teaching look effortless, even though she pours tireless dedication into every aspect of her work. Constantly seeking growth, Morgan is humble about her expertise—often unaware of how much others learn from simply observing her. Her classroom is a place of joy, learning, and connection, and her students absolutely adore her for the warmth and consistency she brings to their lives each day. 4K TEACHER Karen Maderski Karen Maderski is an incredibly invested educator who always places her students at the center of every decision. Her creativity and problem-solving skills shine through as she finds unique ways to celebrate each child’s strengths and help them succeed. Beyond her talent in the classroom, Karen is also a kind and funny colleague whose quick wit and caring nature bring joy and laughter to her team—especially when it’s needed most. SPANISH TEACHER Jessie Loepfe Jessie Loepfe brings passion, energy, and equity to everything she does. HZ HORIZON ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD FINALISTS Carlie Guetzke 4TH GRADE TEACHER Carlie Guetzke brings both innovation and heart to her 4th grade classroom at Horizon. As a dedicated math teacher, she empowers her students to take charge of their own learning, even implementing student-led small groups that foster collaboration and confidence. Beyond the classroom, Carlie leads Horizon’s Student Council and was instrumental in launching the Playground Pals program, promoting inclusion and belonging during recess. She is the definition of a team player—whether supervising during late bus arrivals, designing and painting a new mural, or presenting at a school board meeting, Carlie steps up without hesitation. Known as the queen of all extra responsibilities—coach, traffic duty, lunch supervision, NHS, diversity club—Abby does it all with positivity and heart. SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER Aaron Yuskis Aaron Yuskis, Social Studies Teacher, calmly approaches situations with an open mindset, always willing to help and learn from others. GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH AND PHS SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER Jim Reuter Jim Reuter, Pewaukee High School social studies teacher and head coach of the girls varsity basketball team, is a shining example of excellence both on and off the court. With a remarkable 25-3 record this season and a well-earned title as the 2024 WBCA Coach of the Year, Jim led the team to its first-ever state championship, building on two consecutive state runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2023. His overall coaching record of 164-29, including four straight conference titles, reflects not only his strategic brilliance but also the strong, positive culture he fosters within the program.
