STUDENT SERVICES STUDENT WELLNESS PEWAUKEE LAKE HORIZON ASA CLARK MIDDLE PEWAUKEE HIGH THE The Pewaukee School District’s CARE Ecosystem breaks down "CARE" into four integrated categories that drive student wellness: System Support, Proactive Support, Responsive Support, and Peer Support. System Support focuses on using data and feedback to identify and address needs. Proactive Support is how we intentionally build wellness skills in our students. Responsive Support ensures students get help when they’re struggling or in crisis. Peer Support empowers students to support themselves and one another. Toggle over the infographic to the right to explore how each part of the CARE Ecosystem works together to support wellness at Pewaukee Schools. CARE ECOSYSTEM SYSTEM SUPPORT The “System Support” pillar of the Care Ecosystem ensures PSD meets the evolving needs of every student by focusing on data collection, internal support, wellness, and Board of Education feedback. As challenges like technology, social media, and the pandemic shape student needs, our teams work together to build systems that support social-emotional growth—helping students build self-awareness, manage emotions, and make responsible decisions. Grounded in our Graduate Profile, we know these skills are key to lifelong success. PROACTIVE SUPPORT Our proactive efforts focus on supporting students, staff, and families. For students, this includes lessons that help them practice conflict resolution during group work, recognize signs of stress and use healthy coping strategies, and apply decision-making frameworks to real-life situations. We also prioritize strong, positive partnerships with families to work together in supporting and celebrating each child. Teachers receive ongoing professional development to help them build these future-ready skills throughout the day and foster a positive, welcoming classroom environment for all students. RESPONSIVE SUPPORT There will always be times when a student needs support beyond our proactive measures. When that happens, each school has trained professionals —such as school counselors, school psychologists, our district social worker, school resource officers, and even our therapy dog, Gus—ready to respond. We also partner with on-site community mental health providers for students who benefit from extended care and maintain a Community Resources website to help families find specialized support. Collaborations with groups like Positively Pewaukee and United Way expand our reach , while our growing internal resource database helps equip students, staff, and families with tools to navigate challenges like mental health concerns, grief, homelessness, and food insecurity. PEER SUPPORT We know peer influence is powerful, and our goal is to harness that power by empowering students to support one another. As the fourth pillar of our CARE Ecosystem, peer support gives students meaningful ways to demonstrate CARE and CONNECT. At Horizon, fifth graders mentor incoming third graders, building friendships and modeling positive behavior. At Asa Clark, “Compass Crew” is a new group of peer- and staff-nominated students who lead service learning projects and promote kindness, inclusion, and peer advocacy. At the high school, our Hope Squad is made up of trained, peer-nominated students who watch for signs of distress and help classmates connect with trusted adults. These programs foster a generation of students who care for themselves and others. To learn more about the impact of our Hope Squad, click the button! • Open Enrollment | PewaukeeSD

DPI Open Enrollment The state’s Open Enrollment program allows students grades K-12 to attend a public school in a district other than the one in which they reside, if space is available. If you have questions about the open enrollment program, please call Tammy Yundt at 262-695-5037. Part-Time Open Enrollment FAQs ENROLLMENT OPEN FEB 2ND - APRIL 30 O.E. Seats for 2026-27 Open Enrollment application period for the 2026-27 school year is 2026-27 Open Enrollment Brochures: ENGLISH SPANISH HMONG FAQS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who can apply? Any student from any district may apply with the understanding that parents/guardians must provide all transportation to and from school. How do you apply? The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Open Enrollment application process is now online. Online applications are automatically sent directly to resident and nonresident school districts as well as the DPI. Online applicants are encouraged to print the full completed application for their records. Please visit here to fill out an application. Those who do not have access to a computer may request paper applications from any school district. Paper applications must be sent to the individual nonresident school districts within the application period. Please do not submit both paper and online applications. NOTICE to all Current Open Enrollment Parents: If you have a child who is currently enrolled through Open Enrollment there is no need to reapply for that child. NOTICE to Pewaukee School District residents who move out of the district this school year Current Pewaukee residents who move out of the district during this current school year and have completed a tuition waiver must also complete an Open Enrollment application if they wish to have their child be considered to attend Pewaukee School District in Fall 2026. Parents/guardians must submit an application between midnight Monday, February 2 until 4pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026, online at www.dpi.wi.gov . Parents will receive a response from the district mailed in late May/early June. How are people notified if they are chosen from the waiting list? Using contact information provided on the Open Enrollment application, the district first calls parents, and then emails them if a phone call is not successful. When do I find out if my child has been accepted? The resident district and all districts to which families have applied will notify parents in writing near the end of May/ beginning of June. Are grades or attendance a consideration? No, state law only requires that schools review pre-expulsion and expulsion records and check to see if a child is in special education. What if my child is accepted at more than one district? Parent may apply to up to three districts. Each district operates its lottery process independently of the others, therefore it is possible to be chosen by more than one district. Parents may reject an invitation to enroll in a district, however they may legally only accept one placement. Parents must complete a final form to confirm which district to attend by within 10 days of receiving notice that the student was selected from a waiting list. Do I need to submit any documents with my application? No, just the completed application with parent/guardian signature and date. Where do I submit my application? Applications must be submitted to the district the student wishes to enter, not the home district. Forms can be completed digitally (encouraged) or mailed or brought to the district in person. Are there any seats available? YES, the Pewaukee School district has designated seats and the details and seat information for each grade level can be found HERE. How does the Open Enrollment lottery work? The Pewaukee School District follows state law and holds a lottery for students that have applied at the different grade levels if seats are available. The first group that is drawn is for siblings of current students, and the second is for students who are not currently attending our school district. Names are drawn and numbers assigned based on the drawing. The number assignments are by grade level, once seats are filled each grade level will start a waiting list. If a seat at a particular grade level becomes available after the letters are sent, the waiting list from the corresponding grade level is referenced to determine who is offered that seat. What are the chances that my child will be chosen in the lottery? Seats are determined using various factors which include financial, staffing resources and classroom teacher-student ratios. Seats are also determined by the number of children who might enroll or withdraw in summer when most families make enrollment transitions. These factors are in flux until near the start of school, which prevents the district from predicting the likelihood of a student on the waiting list being offered a seat. How does the waiting list work? The Pewaukee School District creates a waiting list at each grade level. If seats become available, families are contacted and invited to register. The district tries to make acceptance decisions before the start of the school year. Generally, students from the waiting list are offered a spot by the end of August. Can K4 students apply? Yes, K4 students may apply, but the district of residence must also have a K4 program. In other words, the applicant’s home district must have a K4 program to be considered for Pewaukee’s 4K program. Does the Open Enrollment program allow people to apply who are in special education programs? Yes, however, as with any student, space must be available in the grade level and special education program the child needs. For this upcoming year, all special education programs and services are closed due to lack of space. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Once a student is accepted into a school district, the student may continue to attend the district without having to reapply every year with three exceptions: The nonresident district may require each student to reapply one time only — at the beginning of intermediate school, middle school or high school. Under certain circumstances, a student who needs special education may be required to return to the student’s resident district. Poor attendance can be a criterion for dismissal from the program and students may be required to return to their resident district. A student who is attending a nonresident school district under Open Enrollment may return to her or his resident school at any time. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent. Reimbursement of transportation costs is available for low-income parents whose children are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches under the federal school lunch program. For answers to specific questions not provided on-line or in informational brochures, please contact: District Open Enrollment Coordinator Tammy Yundt at (262) 695-5037 /yundtam@pewaukeeschools.org Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website at www.dpi.wi.gov
