    QUICK LINKS: District Campus Map The Buildings and Grounds Department is responsible for maintaining the four schools and surrounding acreage located on the Pewaukee Public Schools campus. The Department supports the District’s strategic plan by assuring that all facilities are safe, clean and properly maintained for student learning. It also focuses on capital planning, energy management, cost saving initiatives and community use of school facilities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in coaching competitive athletics, as well as a Master’s in Exercise and Sport Science – Sport Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. John has received multiple certifications, including the WASBO Facilities Certification, Certified School Risk Management (CSRM), and the School Safety & Security Coordinator Certification from WSCCA. In 2017, he was honored with the WASBO School Facilities Manager of the Year award, and in 2022, he received the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinator of the Year award. John loves working for Pewaukee because of the autonomy to make impactful decisions, the supportive culture, and the incredible team. He finds the dedication and passion of his colleagues inspiring, and values the collaborative and welcoming environment that makes every day meaningful.     PHS INSIGHT'S GLOBAL BUSINESS Course Details i Teacher Bio Students will have the opportunity to engage in a real-world experience in high-demand corporate environments where they can learn and grow in areas that may offer future employment opportunities. While in the corporate setting, students will spend both semesters working on a variety of industry-driven projects, solving authentic business problems, and learning about the rewards and challenges of project-based work. Each student is partnered with a professional mentor. Students regularly travel to professional partners within the community. Professional attire is required for students.

She forms strong, trusting relationships with students and families, expertly adapts instruction to support even the most challenging learners, and creates a safe, structured environment where all students can thrive. A passionate advocate, Sarah collaborates seamlessly with staff, always ready to step in with professionalism and compassion. Her annual holiday cart project is a beloved school tradition, as she leads her students in spreading cheer throughout the building—regardless of communication ability—through treats, carols, and connection. She is known for going the extra mile to ensure systems run smoothly and that staff feel supported. Services Greg Mueller, a dedicated bus driver for the Pewaukee School District and proud Pewaukee Pirates fan, is known for his exemplary service and positive attitude. Whether he’s driving team buses or stepping in to help with a tough situation, Greg’s willingness to go above and beyond is unmatched. As a trusted member of the district, he earned his coach bus license to transport state-bound teams, further demonstrating his commitment. In addition to his driving duties, Greg adds a special touch to district events by playing the National Anthem on his trumpet, offering stellar performances at a moment’s notice. Ben’s collaborative approach fosters a supportive environment where staff feel heard, often rethinking initial ideas through his thoughtful guidance. He actively builds partnerships with community businesses, expanding real-world learning opportunities for students. Ben consistently goes above and beyond by writing and managing grants that bring crucial resources to support student innovation. MARKETING/COMMUNICATION MANAGER Miranda Kozlik Miranda Kozlik, Marketing and Communications Manager, embraces every challenge with enthusiasm and determination. She covers all forms of communication across the district, skillfully celebrating the wonderful things happening at Pewaukee by consistently showcasing others and lifting up those around her. Miranda’s innovative standout projects include designing the 4K Environmental Rooms, single-handedly developing the new district website, and even painting the bookmobile bus. With a remarkable 25-3 record this season and a well-earned title as the 2024 WBCA Coach of the Year, Jim led the team to its first-ever state championship, building on two consecutive state runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2023. His overall coaching record of 164-29, including four straight conference titles, reflects not only his strategic brilliance but also the strong, positive culture he fosters within the program. As a member of the Pewaukee Coaches Advisory Group and the state coaches association executive board, Jim consistently elevates the standard for coaching in Pewaukee, serving as a role model of leadership, dedication, and integrity for coaches across the district. Cheryl Panka 4K TEACHER Cheryl Panka, 4K Teacher, is a passionate educator who goes above and beyond to meet the unique needs of every learner in her classroom. WellPoint Liz Davison Liz Davison and her team at WellPoint Care Network have been instrumental in supporting student mental wellness at Pewaukee High School. As a dedicated liaison lead at WellPoint Counseling Services, Liz has worked closely with the school psychologist and District Social Worker to strengthen suicide prevention programming and ensure robust mental health support for students. Her compassionate, detailed approach provided vital support to both students and staff during a period of community grief following the loss of a student. Liz has played a key role in securing and implementing a grant that has significantly advanced mental health resources across the Pewaukee School District. They have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting both students and staff, particularly in areas of career exploration and business development. Their collaboration with the district has fostered meaningful learning opportunities, providing students with valuable insights into the business world. PLE PLE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD Morgan Cecchettini 5K TEACHER Morgan Cecchettini embodies everything it means to be an exceptional early elementary educator. She makes the art of teaching look effortless, even though she pours tireless dedication into every aspect of her work. Constantly seeking growth, Morgan is humble about her expertise—often unaware of how much others learn from simply observing her. Her classroom is a place of joy, learning, and connection, and her students absolutely adore her for the warmth and consistency she brings to their lives each day. HZ HORIZON ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD 5TH GRADE TEACHER Julie Reuter Julie Reuter is an innovative educator who brings real-world experiences into her classroom to ignite students’ passion for learning. She founded the HookJr, a student journalism club that gives learners the chance to explore roles like reporter, illustrator, editor, and photographer—transforming school events into exciting journalistic opportunities. Julie also created a mentorship program within the club, empowering older students to support younger peers. Her love for literacy is evident in how she introduces new genres and authors to students, while tailoring instruction to match their unique interests and learning needs. TEACHER Amy Toson Amy Toson, 6th and 8th Grade Special Education Teacher, supports students across multiple buildings with unwavering dedication and a student-first mindset. PHS PHS TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD Abby Varela SPANISH TEACHER Abby Varela, Spanish Teacher, is a vital community partner as a translator to students and families. She is a phenomenal connection builder with students and staff, always open to learning others’ perspectives. Known as the queen of all extra responsibilities—coach, traffic duty, lunch supervision, NHS, diversity club—Abby does it all with positivity and heart. Her ability to juggle multiple roles without losing her spark is remarkable. Abby’s impact reaches beyond the classroom, helping students feel seen, understood, and supported. NEW NEW TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD John Blechacz PHS BUSINESS/INSIGHT TEACHER John Blechacz, PHS Business and Insight Teacher, is an idea bringer who enhances student experiences through fresh insights. Always smiling and ready to take on new challenges, he is a caring and collaborative team member who elevates the Insight program and the broader school community. His passion for real-world learning and entrepreneurship energizes students and brings their ideas to life. John’s enthusiasm, positivity, and innovation continue to shape a dynamic and meaningful learning environment. SUB SUBSTITUTE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD Beth Young Eagle Truthfully, we don’t know what PHS would be without Beth Young-Eagle. Beth is extremely reliable and always willing to help out—whether it’s covering a half-day assignment or stepping in for a full semester, her consistency has been a cornerstone of support. She’s worked with generations of Pewaukee families, and it’s not uncommon for her to teach the children of former students—earning their respect from day one. Even in retirement, Beth continues to be a vital presence, providing positivity, professionalism, and passion. She has filled in for paraprofessionals, special education teachers, and classroom teachers alike, often with little notice but always with great impact. PLE SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST Dan Duss Dan Duss is the backbone of Pewaukee Lake Elementary, supporting students, staff, and families with relentless dedication and heart. Known as the hardest-working person in the building, Dan brings compassion and creativity to his work in behavior support, MTSS coordination, and emotional development. Whether delivering lessons on social-emotional learning or checking in one-on-one with students, Dan ensures every child is seen, supported, and successful. He collaborates weekly with every teacher, helps tailor special education and 504 plans, and is a dependable, go-to resource for all. Dan’s unwavering belief in each student—and his commitment to doing whatever it takes—has made an extraordinary difference in countless lives. Michelle Davison PSD SOCIAL WORKER Michelle Davison is a lifeline for students, families, and staff in Pewaukee Schools. As a school social worker, Michelle provides critical counseling and resource connection services, ensuring no student falls through the cracks. From co-chairing the Hope Squad and expanding mental health awareness, to securing housing, clothing, and transportation for families in crisis, Michelle does it all with compassion and urgency. She brings Gus, her therapy dog, into school spaces to offer comfort and joy. Michelle also collaborates with community agencies to bring therapy services directly to students, eliminating barriers to care.     PHS INSIGHT'S WORLD TRANSLATIONS Course Details i Teacher Bio Students will have the opportunity to experience the world of translation and world languages, working with local and international businesses in a blended setting. Projects may include human resources materials, instruction manuals, personal documents, and/or medical translations. Students will be matched with a professional mentor. This class is taught on the Pewaukee School District Campus, but may require trips to local businesses. Professional attire is required when interacting with mentors and business partners.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PEWAUKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT FORM OF ASSESSEMENTS In order to effectively communicate the learning, growth and achievement of our students in a constructive and timely manner, we believe that assessment practices utilized throughout the district must be accurate, meaningful, consistent & supportive of learning. The Pewaukee School District uses a comprehensive Pewaukee District Assessment Program to obtain a balanced profile of student achievement. Our program consists of a three-tiered system including standardized testing, district selected assessments, and classroom assessments, all of which are monitored on an ongoing basis. PSD DISTRICT ASSESSMENT PROGRAM DISTRICT GRADING GUIDELINES 1 STANDARDIZED TESTING The District’s standardized testing program includes the State-mandated assessment system which will again include a new set of tests in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies in grades 3-8 and 10 (social studies), along with the administration of the Pre-ACT (grades 9-10), and ACT (grade 11). Our students consistently perform among the best in Wisconsin on these assessments. 2 PSD BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS Our schools utilize a variety of standardized assessments as formative progress checks throughout the year. This includes STAR Math (grades 5K-8), STAR Reading (grades 2-8), and STAR Early Literacy (grades 4K-1), the Fountas and Pinnell (F&P) Reading Assessment (grades 4K-5), and Pre-ACT (grade 8-10). 3 CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT Classroom assessments are used both formatively for learning and summatively of learning. Summative assessments are administered at the end of a period of learning for the purpose of reporting achievement and progress to students and parents. These assessments are tightly aligned with the Board approved priority standards. He has been in education for 20 years, holding roles as both a teacher and an administrator. He has been with Pewaukee for 10 years and brings over a decade of administrative experience, having served as a building-level administrator at both the high school and middle school levels, including six years as principal of Asa Clark Middle School and three years as associate principal. He is dedicated to fostering innovative and effective educational practices. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. He has led district-wide initiatives focused on curriculum renewal, instructional improvement, strategic planning, and continuous school improvement processes. He is passionate about using data-driven decision-making to advance student achievement and is committed to building collaborative professional learning cultures. Our community members are overwhelmingly positive about their experiences, and have shared the various benefits to getting involved: APPLY HERE STUDENTS Students participating in the Insight program apply in December and have been selected through an interview process. His career began in December 1992 as a Business Manager in suburban Milwaukee. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in Finance with emphasis in Personal Financial Planning. His Masters Degree in School Business Management was also from UW-W. John and his wife have raised three children, living in the Pewaukee community since 2000.
