Hiding, Helping, and Heroism: Number the Stars Review

Have you ever heard of the book Number the Stars by Lois Lowry? It is a must-read! It is a historical fiction book that will make you feel a mix of emotions. This book made me tear up,

in a good way. The book takes place during World War II in Denmark.

The main character is Annemarie Johansen, and she is the bravest character I have ever read about. The reason I feel that way is that she takes Ellen's necklace with the Star of David off when the Nazis come to the Johansen house. She also stopped her friend from being killed by the Nazis.

Ellen Rosen is another important character, and she is friendly. I think this is because even though she's Jewish, she’s always friendly to Annemarie.

What I liked about the book was that it had a happy ending, telling me more about what happened to Jewish people. What I didn’t like was how sad it was. I give the book five stars for its fantastic plotline. I can’t wait to read other books by Lois Lowry.
