Written by Tyler J.

Chapter 1: The First Quest

September 2nd, 1:38 PM

“Okay guys, are you ready for our first quest?” Tom the Thief asks.

“Yes,” Tyler the Wizard and Barry the Barbarian answer.

“Okay, so let’s leave our house and find the lobby,” Tom says as he heads out.

Tyler and Barry follow.

“How long will it take to walk to the lobby?” Tyler asks.

“About 30 more minutes,” Barry answers.

Thirty minutes later, Tyler the Wizard, Barry the Barbarian, and Tom the Thief see a sign that says: THE LOBBY. Enter here.

“That felt like 300 years!” Tyler yells.

“Well, it wasn’t 300 years, Tyler,” Sarah the Quest Giver says.

“Sarah?” Tyler asks. “You work in the lobby?”

“Yeah, I work in the lobby,” Sarah answers. “That’s why I’m here. I give quests.”

“Oh, can we have a quest?” Tom asks.

“What do you think?” Sarah says as she looks through the available quests. “You will go to Maze #11 for your quest.”

“What is our quest?” Tyler asks.

“I can’t tell you unless it’s your second quest—and this is your first,” Sarah says.

“Oh,” Tyler replies.

“Guys, let’s go start the quest,” Tom says as he walks toward the mazes.

Three hundred trillion years later… SIKE! Actually, 11 minutes later, Tyler, Tom, and Barry see a sign reading "MAZE #11."

“Huh, I think it’s the next maze,” Tyler jokes.

“TYLER GARISON JASKIE! IT’S THIS MAZE! ARE YOU DUMB?!” Barry yells as loud as a train.

“I was joking, Barry,” Tyler says.

They enter Maze #11.

Chapter 2: The Start of the Maze Quest

September 2nd, 2:26 PM

“It’s dark in here,” Tyler says. “Tom doesn’t have something to make light, so I cast fi—”

“Tyler, I thought we discussed this! No casting fireball!” Barry yells.

“I cast fireball,” Tyler says, smirking as torches light up.

“Tyler, why did you cast fireball?!” Barry screams.

“Barry, calm down. You don’t want to end up like your uncle Jeret, who went insane from yelling so much that he blew up,” Tom says calmly.

“So that’s what happened to your uncle Jeret. You told me he died fighting the ancient giant mimic dragon,” Tyler says.

They keep walking.

“What do you guys think is in this maze? A monster, a dragon, a giant pig?” Tyler jokes.

“I think it’s a dragon,” Barry says.

“I think it’s a monster,” Tom says.

“I think it’s a mimic,” Tyler says.

“I think it’s a giant pig,” Jack the Bard says.

“Well, I think we’re about to find out,” Tyler says as he sees a sign that reads: BEWARE: MONSTER INSIDE!

“It’s locked,” Tom says nervously. “I’ll pick it.”

He tries, but—SNAP!

“I cast lock-pick spell,” Tyler says.

CLICK. The door unlocks.

“It’s a…”

Chapter 3: The Monster in the Maze

September 2nd, 3:58 PM

“Dragon!” Tyler screams.

ROAR!

Tyler sprints for the door.

“Jack, no!” Tom yells as the dragon grabs Jack and throws him into a wall.

“Remember me!” Jack shouts as he turns into golden ash.

“Guys! Run to the big door that definitely can’t fit a dragon!” Tyler yells.

Tom and Barry follow.

They reach the end of the hallway.

“Of course it’s locked,” Tyler says.

“What are you guys doing here?” Nick the NPC asks. “Do you need a lock pick?”

“Nick, what are you doing here?” Tom asks.

“I don’t know. I just spawned here,” Nick replies.

“I mean, you are an NPC,” Tyler says. (An NPC is a Non-Playable Character in a game.)

“Do you need a lock pick, though?” Nick asks.

“Nick, a dragon is trying to get through that door, and this one is locked,” Tyler says.

“DUDE! DO YOU NEED A LOCK PICK?!” Nick yells.

“Yes, we do,” Tyler says.

Nick hands Tom a lock pick, and Tom unlocks the door.

“Finally,” Barry says as they run through.

Chapter 4: Finding the Exit

September 2nd, 5:29 PM

ROAR!

“Well, at least we escaped… for now,” Tyler says.

“We should find the exit,” Nick says. “What is this place?”

“It’s Maze #11,” Tyler replies.

They enter a dark room.

SWOOSH! An arrow flies past Tyler’s head.

“You must leave this instance!” a voice calls.

“I am Josie the Archer,” she says, stepping forward. “It’s not safe here.”

“Josie, what are you doing here?” Hadley the NPC says. “Travelers, do you want to trade?”

“No,” everyone says.

“Aw, shucks,” Hadley says, teleporting away.

“Let’s defeat the dragon,” Tyler says.

“Okay,” everyone agrees.

Chapter 5: Escape the Maze

September 3rd, 3:33 AM

The team returns to the dragon.

ROAR!

Josie fires five arrows, all hitting the dragon’s nose.

The dragon swats her, knocking her into a wall. She falls unconscious.

“NOOO!” the team yells.

The dragon turns toward Tyler.

“WHY IS THERE A DRAGON IN THIS MAZE?!” Tyler screams.

“Tyler, don’t just stand there—RUN!” Tom shouts.

“I’ll attack it!” Barry says.

“Don’t—that’s not smart,” Nick warns.

“Oh no…” Nick says as the dragon steps closer.

“Well, at least it didn’t step on you—” Tyler begins.

CRUSH.

“NOOOOOOO!” they scream as Nick turns into golden dust.

“Let’s get him,” Tom says, grabbing his dagger.

(All weapons turn monsters or living things into ash.)

They charge the dragon.

After hours of fighting…

“FREEZE BLAST!” Tyler shouts, freezing the dragon.

“We did it,” Tom says.

“For Nick!” they say together.

They head back to the lobby.

“You know, I think we’ll see Josie again,” Tyler says.

“Yeah, probably,” Tom agrees.
