Burkemper Named New Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach
Former UW-Madison Walk-On Captain Anxious To Build On Successful Pirate Tradition
PEWAUKEE, WI - Pewaukee High School is proud to announce it has hired David Burkemper as its varsity boys basketball coach, replacing long-time coach Mike Basile, who recently resigned to devote more time to family.
Burkemper has assisted the Pirate basketball program for the past four years, bringing a wealth of first-hand knowledge to the position. He also brings a work ethic which saw him walk on at UW-Madison in 1995 and become a team captain under legendary coach Dick Bennett.
“I am humbled and honored to join the Pewaukee Pirate family and look forward to continuing the excellent basketball tradition with our student athletes,” said Burkemper. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the program I have become heavily invested in for the past four years.”
“We are thrilled to welcome David as our head boys basketball coach," said Athletic and Activities Director Jeff Behrens. "His familiarity with our program and vast knowledge of the sport, combined with his passion for building on our rich tradition, makes him a great fit.”
