Sarah Viera Named Assistant Superintendent of Business Services/CFO at Pewaukee School District
With extensive experience in school finance and operations, Viera steps into a key leadership role supporting the district’s continued success.
Pewaukee, WI – The Pewaukee School District is pleased to announce Sarah Viera as its next Assistant Superintendent of Business Services/CFO. Viera fills the role as John Gahan retires after 18 years of dedicated service to the district. She will officially begin her role on July 1, 2026, with Gahan concluding his tenure on June 30.
Viera holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Master’s degree in School Business Management. She also holds an 08 license for School Business Manager and is a Certified School Risk Manager. She brings a strong background in school finance and operations, currently serving as the Director of Business Services at CESA 1. Prior to that, Viera spent eight years as the Executive Director of Business Services & Operations for the Mequon-Thiensville School District and has also held roles within the Merton Community School District and West Bend School District.
“I am honored to begin my role as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services/CFO for the Pewaukee School District,” said Viera. “This is a true full-circle moment for me; I interned in the business office 15 years ago, and the district has held a special place in my heart ever since. I’m grateful for the strong foundation built by John Gahan and excited to continue supporting work that meets all students where they are. It’s a privilege to serve this community!”
Dr. Mike Cady, Superintendent of Pewaukee Schools, shared, “Sarah comes with outstanding experience, having previously served as the Business Manager of the Mequon-Thiensville School District and currently in the equivalent role with CESA 1. Sarah and John are already working together to ensure a smooth transition.”
Viera lives in Sussex with her two children, Harrison (8) and Olivia (10). Outside of work, she enjoys spending time cheering them on at softball and football games, gardening, attending concerts, and exploring Wisconsin’s supper clubs with friends and family.
Pewaukee School District is a public 4K-12 district offering an award-winning, future-ready education to over 3,000 students on a unique, single-campus setting. We are passionately committed to our mission to open the door to each child’s future.

The announcement of Viera being named Assistant Superintendent and CFO highlights a significant leadership transition for Pewaukee Schools. This dual role reflects both financial expertise and educational vision, ensuring stability and growth for the district. Strong leadership in such positions directly impacts resource management and student outcomes. Much like Fnaf, where success depends on vigilance and strategic choices, guiding a school system requires careful planning, adaptability, and attention to detail to balance fiscal responsibility with educational excellence.
