Pewaukee, WI – The Pewaukee School District is pleased to announce Jane Matter as the new Principal of Asa Clark Middle School. Matter succeeds Katie Spadoni, who has transitioned into the role of Director of Learning and Academic Coaching for the district. She officially begins her new position on July 1, 2026, and will lead Asa Clark alongside Associate Principal Paul Bursi.
With a Bachelor's degree in Secondary English and Language from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Learning from Carroll University, Matter brings 15 years of educational experience to her new role. Her career began at Kettle Moraine High School, where she spent 10 years as an English teacher and Track & Field coach, focusing on interdisciplinary instruction and co-teaching. She then joined Pewaukee High School as an English teacher for three years before serving the past two years as Associate Principal.
“I am excited and honored to join the Asa Clark Middle School community as its next principal,” said Matter. “Throughout my career as an educator, I have seen firsthand the impact that a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment can have on learning and growth. I believe every student deserves to feel known, valued, and challenged; I am eager to partner with students, staff, and families to continue building a school culture where everyone can thrive.
“I am equally excited to learn alongside the talented staff at Asa Clark as we continue to evolve our practices, strengthen our learning community, and pursue excellence together.”
Dr. Mike Cady, Superintendent of Pewaukee Schools, said, “Jane Matter came to us as an English teacher at Pewaukee High School and, after excelling in that role, was promoted to Associate Principal before now becoming the new Principal at Asa Clark Middle School. Jane is a dynamic, bright, and hardworking leader who has consistently demonstrated a high level of passion and skill for her work, along with a gift for creating excellent relationships with students, staff, and parents. I know Asa Clark is in great hands, and I am excited to see Ms. Matter work with Mr. Bursi and the rest of the outstanding staff as they continue the tradition of excellence at ACMS.”
Outside of school, Matter enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Sam, and their daughters, Quinn (7) and Greta (9). Whether they're running, camping, attending sporting events, cheering on their daughters in their many activities, visiting the occasional arcade, or playing family games, they enjoy every opportunity to spend time together. Matter proudly notes that she is especially difficult to beat in Uno and Guess Who.
Pewaukee School District is a public 4K-12 district offering an award-winning, future-ready education to over 3,000 students on a unique, single-campus setting. We are passionately committed to our mission to open the door to each child’s future.
