My name is Rebecca Reagles, and I am thrilled to be your child’s language arts teacher this year! This is my 12th year teaching 8th grade language arts in Pewaukee, and my 19th year overall. I graduated way back in 1997 from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in English and secondary education. In 2002, I went back to UWM to earn my Master’s degree in English-Creative Writing -- which was such a blast! I love writing, and I devour books...so I’m definitely in the right profession. Because I love a challenge as well, I am currently working on my National Board Certification in English/Language Arts. Learning never stops, and I want to pass that lesson along to my students.
Our 8th grade language arts program is constantly evolving, and one big change this year is that we’ve moved from the second floor to the first floor of ACMS. Your child has two language arts classrooms. The instructional room is Room 105. On B days in this room, we will focus on whole-class skill instruction, a study of mentor texts, group collaboration, etc. Across the hall, we have a library classroom in which students will work more independently on their writing pieces and reading skills on A days. We will still incorporate 30 minutes of silent reading in both classrooms, and we continue to ask students to read for an additional 30 minutes each night at home.
Please visit my school blog at www.reagreb.blogspot.com. You will see your child's blog linked here under their class hour, and on this blog you will see his/her best writing. We also have a Schoology.com site for each language arts class. If you would like parent access to this site, please email me for an access code at reagreb@pewaukeeschools.org.
