• This is the prerequisite course to all other art classes. Open to all students, Art Exploration is an alternating-day, semester-long introductory and exploratory course. Within a collaborative environment that encourages critical thinking and problem solving, students view and analyze artwork created during major art movements from the 1850’s-1950’s. Students investigate how to use the elements and principles of design for visual communication. Students experiment with a variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional media and begin to develop technical skills. Students use a sketchbook to brainstorm, plan, and develop ideas. Students use technology appropriately to research artist/artwork/artistic techniques, for document generation, and creative self-expression.
